WHAT A MATCH ! UNBELIEVABLE ! Australia scrape through to the semi-finals with a 2-wicket win ! The players are all smiling out there but Ponting is miffed. Who would have thought at 140/2 that the match would go till the last ball ! But it did ! Good opening stand of 44 between Watson and Paine and then of 81 between Ponting and Hussey. But then after that, Australia lost 6/47 and nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. But Hauritz and Lee held their nerve and saw Australia through. Hussey was the top-scorer with 64 while Saeed Ajmal was the best bowler for Pakistan with figures of 2/31 in 10 overs.

PHEW ! TAKE A BREATHER ! Pakistan manage 205/6 in 50 overs and Australia blaze away to 140/2 in the 32nd Over. But Ponting lost his wicket and there was a barricade of wickets after that. But Australia hung on and managed to cross the line. They now top Group A with 5 points and meet England in the first semi-final against England at this very ground. Pakistan are the other semifinalists and they take on New Zealand on Saturday at Johannesburg. England were drubbed 1-6 in England by Australia recently, but this is a different country with different conditions. Welcome back for the run-chase. Australia need 206 to book a place in the semis and top the table in Group A. The scorecard does not reflect it, but it was really really difficult to bat out there. Maybe Pakistan left the Batting Powerplay a bit late. However, if their bowlers stick to their line and length, they can cause a few problems.
