New Zealand have defeated England by 4 wickets. With that, they top Group B in the ICC Champions Trophy 2009. England was the first group to confirm their place in the semi-finals after wins in their first two matches, so this match was technically a dead-rubber to them. However, they were done in by a pitch which helped the seamers throughout the course of the day, especially in the first few overs. Bond and Elliott scalped seven wickets between them to dismiss Strauss' men for 146. Then, Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill started aggressively to get the team off to a flying start. New Zealand lost their momentum after McCullum departed with the score on 84. They then lost 6 wickets for 56 runs but fortunately the openers had done enough for the other batsmen to cruise home with more than 22 overs to spare. Grant Elliott is named Man of the Match for his career-best ODI bowling figures of 31-4 from 8 overs. That's all we have for you today folks.
