India vs Australia

India have picked an emphatic 172-run victory over Australia in the Nagpur Test. With this win, the hosts have clinched the series 2-0 and also have regained the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy after three years. What a post-lunch session it was for India as their spinners did all the damage. Harbhajan and Amit Mishra scalped seven wickets between them to wrap up the Aussie innings. Hayden was the lone fighter with 77 runs to his name.

India were clearly the better team in all the departments during the series. They had a better bowling attack whereas their batting line-up performed exceptionally well. The young guns in the team ensured that the future of India is in great hands while the experienced players showed all their class to play a pivotal role in India's series victory. Only weak point for India in this series was the below par performance of Rahul Dravid.

For Australia, it was a disappointing series as nothing went in their favour. They lost their first Test series in three years after their 2005 Ashes loss to England. Plenty of things to worry in the 'Baggy Green' camp as they lack a quality spinner while their team composition doesn't look threatening. Even doubts and questions were raised on Ponting's captaincy during this series. But Shane Watson, Johnson and Jason Krejza have been the performers of the series for the Kangaroos.

But the series also witnessed the departures of two great Indian cricketers in Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly. At Delhi, it was 'Jumbo'who hung up his boots while it's 'Dada' farwell now after the Nagpur Test. What a great servant has Sourav Ganguly been for the Indian cricket team. He has been their most successful skipper. Scoring over 17000 runs in international cricket just justifies his status as a player. And it was a fitting end to his great career as Ganguly was part of the winning team that beat Australia to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Test debutant Jason Krejza picked up the Man of the Match award for scalping 12 wickets in his first match. What a brilliant debut for the off-spinner.

Ishant Sharma is declared Man of the Series for his tally of 15 wickets in the four Test matches. The tall pacer was at his very best throughout the series.

Both Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border hand the Trophy to MS Dhoni who calls Anil Kumble and the entire team to lift it. What a great gesture by 'Mahi' to call Kumble to lift the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian team poses gracefully for the picture with the Trophy.
