India have defeated West Indies by 7 wickets in the final match of the Group stages in the ICC Champions Trophy 2009. Chasing 130 was never going to be difficult, but the West Indian pacers gave the Indians a scare when Gambhir and Dravid were dismissed before the fifth over. Kohli and Karthik avoided any further mishaps as they both applied themselves to the wicket and came up with a fighting 92-run stand for the third wicket. Karthik lost his wicket in an attempt to finish things off early but Kohli carried on to register his highest ODI score of 79*. This victory, however, would only be a consolation win for the Indians who end their tournament after starting off as one of the favourites to win it. They lost to Pakistan in their opening game and unfortunately their second game against Australia was rained out. West Indies, on the other hand, were the only team to lose all their three matches in the tournament.
