England beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets
England
Sri Lanka
After a poor start, Sri Lanka will be quite happy to end with 212 in 47.3 overs. Utilising the overcast conditions with the new ball, the England seamers reduced Sri Lanka to a tottering 17/4 in just under 6 overs. But a couple of 50-run stands featuring Samaraweera (30),
Kandamby (53) and Mathews (52) helped them post a respectable and challenging total on the board. They received some great support from the tail as well. Anderson was the pick of the bowlers
receiving some good suppport from Onions and Broad. Join us back in a short while...

Hello and welcome folks for our coverage of the fourth game of the Champions Trophy 2009 where England start their campaign against Sri Lanka at Johannesburg. Stay tuned for the toss and team news..
England begin their ICC Champions Trophy campaign as they take on Group B leaders Sri Lanka at Johannesburg on Friday. The Islanders are on a high after beating hosts South Africa comprehensively in the opening game of the tournament. The Lankan batting came into its own after a long drought and Mendis joined the party with wickets as well. With their sharp fielding adding to the mix, Sri Lanka appear to be very strong contenders for the trophy. England have just emerged from a rough home ODI series against Australia, where they were beaten 1-6. However, Strauss and company would be hoping that their victory in the final game of that series would signify a turn-around in their fortunes. A win here would put Sri Lanka in a very comfortable position and move them a spot closer to the semi-finals. However, clearly England will have other ideas as play gets underway in the day-night encounter at 1230 GMT. Showers are predicted for the evening and rain could well play a part in the outcome.
