New South Wales Blues beat Somerset by 6 wickets
New South Wales Blues
Somerset
New South Wales Blues have completed a convincing victory to assure themselves of a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League Twenty20. Chasing 112 was never going to be difficult on a batting strip. David Warner set the innings ablaze with 40 runs from just 16 balls. A few wickets fell as the other batsmen tried to follow suit but the Australian side never looked in any trouble whatsoever.
Somerset were completely outplayed in every facet of the game. With that, they are out of the Champions League. The Blues marched home with 49 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand. In the process they completed the fastest second innings chase in the inaugural Champions League.
Stuart Clark is named Man of the Match for his economical figures of 15, which included three top-order wickets as well. Some sad news revealed at the presentation ceremony. This game was Justin Langer's last game for Somerset. He retires from all forms of the game today. He has been a great servant for Australian cricket and the English county, Somerset Sabres.
Thats all we have for you, for now, folks. Stick around with us as the next match between Trinidad and Tobago and Diamond Eagles begins in about one hour. The result of that match will reveal the final four teams who will play the semi-finals of the Champions League. Goodbye, for now. Join us back in a short while.
