Sri Lanka vs India

India have won the first match of the 5-match ODI series against Sri Lanka by 6 wickets having chased down the 247 run target. It was a comfortable victory all the way. The Indians bowled well to restrict Sri Lanka to under 250 runs inspite of a brilliant knock by Jayasuriya who scored 107 runs off 114 balls. Ishant Sharma was the pick of the bowlers picking up 3-52 off his 10 overs. Muralidaran and Mendis were ineffective against the Indian batting and innings from Gambhir(62), Raina(54) and skipper Dhoni(61*) all of whom got fifties ensured that they were never under pressure during the chase. Yuvraj Singh(23) and Rohit Sharma(25*)did well to support them. This win would give the Indians huge confidence playing after a month long break. The teams will meet again for the second ODI on the 31st of January in Colombo.
