Bangladesh have breezed through to a comfortable victory, by 8 wickets with 93 balls remaining. Zunaed Siddique made his intentions clear from the very beginning with some aggressive strokeplay. His 21 runs came off just 12 balls, with the help of 5 boundaries. Things quietened down once he fell but Ashraful then sank his teeth into the Zimbabwe bowling attack and struck boundaries at will. The Zimbabwean bowlers were clueless as Ashraful and Tamim Iqbal chased down the total at a run rate which was always in excess of six runs an over. Their 137-run second-wicket partnership came in 127 balls and by the time Iqbal departed, Bangladesh were already on the threshold of victory. Iqbal scored 63 and Ashraful stayed put to the end to reach his third ODI century just as his team cruised home. Except from a superb knock by Mark Vermeulen, Zimbabwe were totally outplayed in every facet of the game by an on-song Bangladesh unit. Chigumbura was the only bowler who managed to maintain some dignity in his bowling figures. Utseya accepts that 207 was a meek total against a side like Bangladesh. He hopes to come back strongly in the second match on Tuesday. Shakib Al Hasan is proud of his troops. He lauds the efforts of his team in the last one month.
