Bangladesh win the match by four wickets. With that victory, they also clinch the five-match ODI series 3-1. After Coventry's 194 not-out was the talk of the cricket hemisphere, Bangladesh needed a similar effort to reach its target of 313 runs. One man needed to stay put and anchor the ship and Tamim Iqbal stood up to the task. With Zunaed Siddique giving him company at the top of the order, Iqbal did not need to worry about getting off to a blitzkrieg start. Instead, he paced his innings beautifully and only went after the bad deliveries. Siddique again failed to capitalize on a quick start. Raquibul Hasan played the perfect supporting role with a patient 35. Together Iqbal and Hasan played a patient, waiting game. They never went after the bowling, ran hard and made sure they had wickets left for the final onslaught. Iqbal brought up his second century with a flourish and then went after the bowling. He reached his 150 in quick-time and was in a hurry to finish off the match during the final Power Play overs. However, aggression got the better of him and he fell for a splendid 154. By then, he had already ensured that his team was on the doorstep of victory.
Coventry's 194 will go in vain, but it will be the talk of the cricketing town for a long time to come. This is probably the first time I have witnessed 348 runs, out of 625, being scored by two batsmen from opposite teams. Both batsmen will fight for Man of the Series honours as they are both tied on 296 runs for the series so far. But the big question is who will win the Man of the Match today? Coventry's record-breaking 194 not-out or Iqbal's match and series-winning 154. We'll let you know in a bit. This was too tough a decision even for the commentators to make.
